Day 136

We went to the RHS garden at Harlow Carr this afternoon. It was gloomy and damp, but that made it wonderfully atmospheric in the arboretum. I photographed lots of little autumnal still-lifes on the forest floor.

Cyclamen peeking through the fallen leaves.

A twig bridge over the moss.

Raindrops on an oak leaf.

Mossy tree trunk with leaves.

And another one.

An oak tree silhouetted against a gloomy sky.

And then we went through the gardens and found some lingering flowers. I love this luscious blue - no Photoshopping required.

An autumn crocus - the angle on this was a bit of an accident, courtesy of a stray breeze, but I like it.

A little snail found a home in this flower.

I really, really love this one for some reason.

Day 132

We met up with my aunt and uncle for a nice dinner in Sheffield. We were having so much fun that I almost forgot to get a picture! Hence the quick snap in front of the train station.

I really need a haircut!

(My mother pointed out that, obviously, I didn't take this pic. So I guess it's another cheat!) more...

Day 130

The bathroom sink become a crime scene this morning when one of my earrings fell down the drain. Fortunately, some insider information on the different types of traps in British pipes (thanks, Paul!) enabled my husband to enact a daring rescue.

Day 128

Nothing like new plants to cheer me up after a wretched week. The cyclamen cost me the princely sum of £3! A bit of grooming and a good soak and it was good as new. There are three plants in the pot, so it was quite the bargain.

Close-up of stephanotis blossoms. They smell heavenly. more...

Day 124

Hopefully this is adequate evidence to clear me of the monstrous accusation of having the cleanest kitchen in all of Yorkshire. This is how it looked this morning before I even had breakfast.

I don't take many pictures in the kitchen because it's tiny, has terrible light, and, well, it's usually a mess. *blush* And Photoshop is my friend. This picture, though, is unedited sordid reality! more...
