I tortured my poor jetlagged parents by making them help decorate the Christmas tree. Fortunately (?) there aren't many decorations, as most of my Christmas things are still in storage in the US.

In a fit of insanity, I decided it would be fun to go get our Christmas tree at Duncombe Park in the North York Moors. Unfortunately, a fire in a village that closed the road, our propensity for getting lost, crazy drivers (including a bus that rear-ended us), and the narrow, steep, winding roads in the moors made it rather more "fun" than we'd bargained for. My nerves may not recover for a week.
I'm knackered after a long day at work today, so here's a slightly uninspired photo of the donkey from my nativity set. I bet the donkey was knackered, too, by the time they got to Bethlehem.

We spent half our Christmas budget on this olive wood nativity set when we were young and poor (well, younger and poorer, anyway), and I still absolutely love it. It's the first decoration I get out every year, and the only one we shipped over to the UK.
(There are other pieces, too; perhaps I'll photograph them as the season goes on.)

I've lived in Maine, New Mexico, California, New York, Maryland, Northern Ireland, and now England. I don't know where I'll end up next! The previous chapter of this saga may be found at A Yorkshire Year.
